From a twenty-five-year relationship to the lowest depths in the shallow end of the dating pool, Lithgow has written a raw, honest and hilarious memoir about life, love and resilience. Whether you’re looking to laugh, cry, or let your jaw drop in disbelief at the realities of juggling mid-life, parenthood, dating and work alone, this book has something for everyone. You won’t regret picking this one up!

“From the opening sentence I knew Rachel Lithgow is a hilarious new voice in women’s writing. Part memoir, part life lesson, and part how-not-to instruction manual on love and dating, her stories of love, sex, heartache, betrayal and ultimately hope, will keep you laughing and crying.” —Randi Singer, author and screenwriter of Mrs. Doubtfire, Hudson Street, Mad About You, Tooth Fairy

Welcome to the Rachel-verse—where I attempt to guide you toward enlightenment, inner peace, and understanding your place in the universe. Just kidding—that’s Scientology. I mean, their homepage can’t out do this, but I digress.

What I do offer is a bit of written entertainment—with the occasional nugget of wisdom tossed in—that will help you laugh, cry, and possibly shout in solidarity with a woman navigating the wild ride of “life after a certain age.” Together, we’ll explore creativity, fresh starts, raising (almost) independent kids who still conveniently send you their Venmo requests, and, of course, life after divorce—because who doesn’t love a good emotional plot twist?

Oh, and failure. We’re going to talk A LOT about failing. Let’s face it, women don’t discuss this nearly enough—probably because they’re too busy “leaning in.” Well, I leaned in, tumbled over, and ended up with a broken ankle and shoulder (you can read all about my heroic flop in the “Food for Thought” section of the site). But you know what? Falling flat has a way of teaching you how to climb back up…or at least giving your talk show story to share. Consider me your guide through the scenic detour of Failure-ville.

Most of all, my mission here is to bring a smile to your face and a bit of levity to this dumpster fire of a world we call home. Let’s build a community that laughs, shares, and occasionally raises a glass (or two) to the chaos of it all.

Welcome! Let’s dive in.
